JUNE 18th Nashville TN Well, Its been a little while since I have blogged but with good reason.... I spent the past five weeks back in sydney having some good ole home cooked meals, singing with some great musos and catching up with family and friends. I think it will be awhile til I am back there so it was a really good top up. I am now in Nashville on a writing trip which is proving to be amazing. Amazing to say the least. They really know how to do it here. Some of the best song writers in the world live here and just write all day every day. I completely love it and am learning every day. Hooking up with the aussies here has been awesome too. Seeing Jake Nicholai, Jed Hughes, Katherine Britt, Mark Moffatt and Hughie has been a blast. Its a great community of really talented people going for it and achieving big things. I'm really excited about the new songs I've written this week. Thanks to Judy Stakee, Will and BJ at warner chappell for setting these up for me too. Kevin Cadish and I have just written a cracker called "EMPTY". He is of "Stacie Orrico and Jason Mraz fame if I may blow his trumpet. A wonderful musician and top guy. Another great day of writing was with Steven Dale Jones. Ballad writer extroadinaire. I think our new song has Celine Dion written all over it. Lets hope so.... Frank Myers and Gary Baker of "I swear" fame were an absolute blast too and I cant wait to demo our new baby. Next week I'm looking forward to working with Gary Hannon of "Tequila makes her clothes fall off" fame. He is bloody crack up so I'm sure good things are going to come out of this. On the way I have bumped into a lot of STAR writers who have written songs I have sung all my life. I am very pleasantly surprised to find that they are so humble and kind....... Anyway, I'm back up to LA next weekend to start my run of shows at room 5 this sunday 25th June at 9.30pm. Please come on down and check it out. Details are on my myspace site: http://www.myspace.com/jaythemusic (In the gigs section). Also, my live dvd is up at rehearsals.com now. In the exclusive section. I am really excited about how cool it has turned out. Cant wait to start playing live again. Well, thats the news. Hope you are happy wherever you are reading this blog. J:)

APRIL 11th LA: WOW!!! what can I say about this amazing new concept. Last wed/thurs I went and recorded a live dvd at rehearsals.com at centrestaging here in Los Angeles. It was truly one of the most interesting/nerve wrecking musical experiences of my career. I guess I can only explain it by saying its kinda like reality tv, in the way that you are filmed unobtrusively during the whole rehearsal process. Then at the end, they record a live dvd of the show. It was really tough in a way, knowing that your every move/breath/note is under a microscope but incredibly rewarding when you see what these guys produce at the end of it. MASSIVE THANKS TO THE REHEARSAL.COM PEOPLE, THEY ARE SO PROFESSIONAL AND GREAT GENUINE PEOPLE WHO REALLY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING. MASSIVE THANKS TO MY INCREDIBLE BAND - JOEY NAVARRO ON KEYS, SIMON SHAPIRO ON GUITAR, MIKE AVANAIM ON DRUMS AND JOE DUNNE ON BASS GUITAR. THESE GUYS ARE THE BEEZ BOLLOCKS!! MASSIVE THANKS TO ALL THE FRIENDS WHO CAME TO THE LIVE RECORDING AT BURBANK. THANKS FOR BEING A PART OF THIS UNIQUE EXPERIENCE WITH ME. THANKS PADDY, YOU ROCK!! I cant wait to get the footage and hear how it all comes out. Its very exciting......Stay tuned........

2nd April LA Have been flat out here the last couple of weeks. Just trying to keep ahead of it all. With more Ronn Moss rehearsals and last week rehearsing for my own thing it has been really busy. Mark O'Shea, Ian Hopkinson, Brooke Beyen and I hit the Ghengis Cohen with our Aussie song writers circle. It was a great night and a great turn out of aussies there to cheer us on. I think it could be the start of a great habbit!! Thanks to Mig & Sim Ayesa for inviting me to a fantastic fashion parade at the Beverly Wilshire last week. Man, did we all feel like a pretty woman or what - sorry Mig?? It was kinda unreal to be sitting across the catwalk from William Shatner too. Woohoo! Last Sunday I got to the house of Blues for the Gospel Brunch which was, to say the least INSPIRING......Can those ladies sing? What a Sunday! They are incredible, the soul just bleeds from them. Then it was off to the foundation room where I literally bumped into the Saturday night live cast. Very friendly and welcoming and very cool to have a drink with them. God Bless. The last few days I have been holed up rehearsing with my band for this Thursday nights gig rehearsals.com Come one come all! Its a LIVE DVD/ doco that I'm filming. My band are awesome.....Simon Shapiro on guitars, Joey Navarro on Keys, Mike Avanaim on drums and Joe Dunne on bass guitar. I am playing a bunch of new songs that I wrote in the last two weeks with Linus of Hollywood. Yaaaahhhhh!!! Well, that’s it for now.....

19th March LA 5.30pm Yay, Linus of Hollywood, producer/writer to the stars and I have come up with four new toons so far and still writing. Its very cool to be putting it out there again. I'm having a blast. Got out and about this week to the House of Blues, Cantina, Saddle Ranch, Key Club and Rainbow room. It was a pretty big week, rehearsing and recording. Thanks Renee for the chats, drinks and hangover from hell. I am just recovering.... Oh well it was worth it! I have a gig coming up at at Ghengis Cohen. (tues 28th 7pm). Infact its an aussie showcase night here in Hollywood. Should be really good. There are another three aussie acts on too. Details to follow..... And more gigs soon too. Another good week of rehearsals with Ronn. The band is smoking, cant wait to start workin. Thanks for stopping by the blog. Also check out www.myspace.com/jaythemusic

13th March Its has been go go go here in last week. With Ronn Moss rehearsals going every night, the show is really coming together now, and song writing sessions during the day, the old voice has taken a bit of thrashing. All good though. Loving it, loving it loving it. I forgot to mention the fantastic musos in the band, they are awesome people and just really on it!! Joey Navarro on keys - super player, Mark O'Shea on lead guitar/vox - yeah need I say anything there....., Corey Coefield is rockin on bass, last thursday he came in with an amazing electric upright. Then he bows it too. The instrument is incredible and he matches it. Christian Poezack is on drums, he rocks! Oh, not to mention Peter Beckett on guitar/vox is incredible too. My gorgeous girl Renee beside me on BVs and beer!! It should be a fun tour starting in Australia in June at this stage. We are all really looking forward to it. I will put the dates as soon as I have them. On my music, I am awaiting a gig at rehearsal.com!! Yeah, should be great. I start rehearsals next week with my band here and this gig is actually a LIVE dvd of six tracks. I may include some brand newies. I had a great meeting with producer Toby Wright and look forward to working with him. Linus of Hollywood is an absolute hoot and now we have three great new songs. I am writing again with him over the next two days. I think I have mastered the driving on the freeway thing now. Looking forward to another great week here in la la land..... J:)

3rd March A great week all in all this week. I got to work with a fantastic producer/writer here by the name of Linus of Hollywood! Very cool. We wrote a great song together and will continue to be writing next week. Also, I caught Thirsty Merc at the Hotel Cafe. They were really good. It was interesting to see them in a small venue, more cafe style. The songs really came through. I also hooked up with a couple of other interesting people, producer Toby Wright - He has produced a lot of really HEAVY stuff here like Korn, ozzy ozbourne etc. It will be interesting to see what we come up with. Its the Oscars tomorrow night and I'm off to Malibu for a party to celebrate. Should be fun. A great week of Ronn Moss rehearsals, the band is really coming together now and sounding solid! I also caught up with friends Mig & Sim in Venice Beach. Mig has signed a deal with Universal due to the success from the INXS ROCKSTAR programm. Yay, way to go Mig!!! He will start recording his album soon.... Its going to be awesome. I wont say anymore about that, you will just have to wait to hear it. Thats all for now....... Keep the messages coming on the message board. I love to get them. (Now that I have stopped the bloody spammers!!! yeah it totally gives me the shits but ohwell, you get that in cyber space. I am also now on myspace. I am www.myspace.com/jaythemusic Please drop by and say hi!

27th FEB Hey Gang, Well it has been another sunny weekend here in LA. I got out to a few parties and gigs this weekend in North Hollywood! Fellow aussie band Jeepstar put on another great performance and have one coming up at the Viper Room. I should have some dates here soon, just working on that at the moment. Off to another Ronn Moss rehearsal tonight in the Valley. Cheers, JAY

25th FEBRUARY 2006 Wow, long time no news....... yeah I know, but I have a good reason actually. I have moved country for the meantime to Los Angeles. It has been an amazing adventure so far. I am now based in the Valley which is cool. You can get anywhere pretty quickly from here and in LA that is necessary. Its so big and there are like five lanes of traffic, one side, on the freeways here. I am just now getting brave enough to drive on the otherside of the road on the freeways by myself. People beep you all the time too which a bit unnerving but I'm getting used to it. I have been rehearsing all week with a guy called Ronn Moss. We are going to India/Dubai at the end of this month which should be great fun. In the past few weeks I have been to lots of different things in Hollywood. Comedy, a few great gigs at The Roxy, The Whisky, Largo, The Gig etc. Its great to get out in a city that is thriving musically. Its so inspiring. I saw Dave Navarro at the Rainbow room the other night which was cool and I met some really lovely musos who work with Ben Moody from Evanescence. Their band Three Faced is supporting Bon Jovi at the Staple centre here next week. Very exciting for them!! There seems to be a great community of musicians here who are very supportive to one another. Its very cool. I start my writing appointments with some producers here this week. I cant wait for the new songs to come rolling out. I'm really ready to write again. I guess you have to live for awhile after youve written an album, to come up with new things to say. I just got my new DVD of a perfomance at Sydneys metro theatre. Its of "Monster Under the Bed". I will endeavour to put it on the site asap. Now that I know how to enter my blog by myself, thanks to Brett, I will keep you posted on my travels. Much love, Jay :)

NOVEMBER/DECEMBER 2005

Wow! Here we are rapidly coming into the end of another year!!

It has been an interesting few months with a hype of activity.

The Channel seven airplay, which was awesome.......
Songs: "Til I Can Be With You", "Angel For Tea", and "Coincidence" getting a great run on TV shows, "LOST", "HOME AND AWAY" and "ALL SAINTS". Yay!
It so exciting for to see my little babies going out to lots of ears. Its always great to get feedback from everyone as to which songs they like etc etc.

Special thanks goes out to Rowan at Seven for his hard work on this and belief in my music!!! You are a legend! Thanks a million!

I have really enjoyed my live shows of late, The WINE BANQ gigs and also the ASTRAL LOUNGE. Thanks to everyone who came along and said hi! I really appreciate the support. Thanks to Jonathon Schwartz and Sean @ Wine Banq for keeping musos in work!! xx
Its all very well to have recorded music, but if no one comes out to have a drink and listen to you live, its useless. That's what it's all about! Ta very much!!

The next gig on the agenda is at THE PARAGON HOTEL - Friday 9th Dec @ 9.30pm. This is in Circular Quay, cnr Loftus and Alfred St. It should be a good one.
I am doing one long set with my keyboard player and guitarist. Dave Anthony and Simon Shapiro.
These guys are the shit!! No I didn't say they are shit, I said THE SHIT! It is always such a joy for me to hear these guys play my music. They add their magic in such a cool way. Thanks dudes!!

Also, I have been fortunate enough to have James Haselwood on bass, (from The Dissociatives), and Pete Drummond on drums at my bigger shows. These guys are the bees bollocks. Nothing more needs to be said!

Mark O'Shea, the completely awesome talent that he is, (not biased at all), has been heavenly, helping me out with supports at these shows, showcasing a bunch of new stuff he is going to be recording for his own solo album next year.
I'm sure the zinc fans are keen as mustard for that little chest nut!!

I am looking forward to 2006 as it brings the recording of my first album.
I will be spending the next month writing a little more and finalising the songs for contention.
Who knows, I may pop a few on here to see how you guys like them.
I am also planning to be playing a lot next year.
Its time to get out of my little hovel and get out to the world again with new music in tow!
Stay tooned..................
